BOMBAY SAPPHIRE and Rush Philanthropic-sponsored event showcasing work of emerging artists is perfect fit for trendy art gallery and event venue in Wynwood Arts District
Miami, Florida – August 8th, 2016 – Wynwood Lab, a members-only design collaboration space, gallery, and event venue for enthusiasts of high-end art, home decor, fashion, and luxury products in Miami’s renowned Wynwood Arts District, has announced it will be hosting a showing of works by finalists in the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Artisan Series in October 2016. In its seventh year, the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Artisan Series is a collaboration with Russell and Danny Simmons’ Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation that seeks to bring the work of talented emerging visual artists into the spotlight. Thousands of artists annually submit works for consideration, with 10 artists who have participated in local gallery events in major cities around the U.S. being selected as finalists before the Grand Finale Winner is chosen. This year the event has expanded to include Canadian entrants.
“We’re thrilled and honored to be hosting the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Artisan Series at Wynwood Lab,” said the venue’s co-founder Boyd Tasker. “We founded Wynwood Lab here, in one of the most creative neighborhoods in the world, as a place for established and emerging artists to come together and inspire each other toward greater artistic achievement. The Artisan Series salutes that same spirit in recognizing excellence in the visual arts.”
Last year’s Grand Finale Winner, New Orleans’ artist Aron Belka, was recently the guest of honor at the unveiling of a mural he created in collaboration with actress and social activist Rosario Dawson who served as his creative mentor. The two worked together to develop the concept for his interactive mural installation, an image of New Orleans jazz musician Allen Toussaint who passed away last year.
“Since our opening during last year’s Art Basel Miami, we’ve displayed work from many extremely talented artists, both well-known and newcomers, and hosted many art-themed events,” said Wynwood Lab co-founder Christi Tasker. “The BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Artisan Series showcase promises to fill our gallery once again with truly exceptional pieces. The series asks the question, ‘What will you create?’ We can’t wait to find out.”
